British Grand Prix Given New Life and a 17 Year Deal
Good news for British Formula 1 fans and the F1 industry – Silverstone is to host the British Grand Prix once again. After Donington Park was denied the rights to host the British F1, a new deal has emerged.
The 2010 race calendar will be announced later this week, when the Silverstone showpiece will be confirmed for Sunday, 11 July – the same day as the 2010 World Cup final – a bit of very poor timing.
Hardcore F1 Fans will turn out en masse, however the eyes of the nation will probably be on the World Cup final.
Donington Park failed to raise sufficient funds to manage the race on its ground.
“It’s brilliant news. I always assumed it would happen in the end because everyone wanted the same thing. The new circuits are exciting and interesting but they always had to balance up with the historic circuits, like Silverstone.” Martin Brundle, former British F1 Driver.
2009 saw the introduction of ultra modern Dubai – now F1 is going back to its roots. Now we just need to ensure that all our drivers are fit enough and doing their F1 workouts!
